Three Ashland Bands to Perform Rock-a-Thon for Ashland Emergency Fund

Ashland, December 3, 2007--  Three local Ashland bands – The Indian Brook Band, Azra and Noonthirty – will perform a benefit concert on Friday January 25th at Ashland High School. The three rock bands that have been together for a number of years will be rocking for charity starting at 7 o’clock at the High School auditorium.

The bands’ members are Ashland residents, several of whom attend Ashland High School.  The concert is one of the student’s Senior Project.  The goal of the senior project program is to provide the students with a way to turn their creative concepts into a real life project or event.  “We find that having seniors develop a project revolving around their own ideas and using their own resources is a great way to demonstrate all they have learned in school, put to a purpose for which they have a deep passion, said Mrs. Gallant, senior advisor at Ashland High.  “This event should culminate in a great evening of entertainment!”

Kyle Smith, guitarist and vocalist for the Indian Brook Band, said, “The bands have been working on some great original material as well as classics.   We don’t want to give away our play list, but we will have some 70’s Rock, Blues and some of the more contemporary Rock, plus we will debut several of our own songs.  We hope to satisfy the musical interests of our audience.”

The concert will be for the benefit of the Ashland Emergency Fund. The mission of the Fund is to provide emergency financial support for citizens of the town of Ashland who find themselves in need and are unable to resolve that need without assistance. Some of the recipients are homeless, due to a house fire, others have lost jobs and don’t have enough money to buy groceries, pay the rent or heating bills.  The needs of the fund are critical in the winter months, primarily because of the cold weather and the fact that many of the more prominent or well-known charities tend to receive a larger share of donations around the Thanksgiving and December holidays.

Tickets for the concert are available at the door for $5 available starting at 6 o’clock at the night of the show.   For more information call Kyle Smith at 508-981-2168.
